I mentioned in my Homemade Laundry Detergent post that I make all of our house cleaners. I had several people ask about my recipes so I thought I would share. Trust me, there isn't much to this. There isn't a proprietary situation here. It's easy peasy.
My all-purpose cleaner is a combination of vinegar plus lemon and lime peels.
There isn't a specific formula. I pour white vinegar into a large mason jar. Over the course of the next few days I add lemon and lime peels as I cook or make beverages.
After the mixture has marinated, I use a strainer to get rid of any lingering pulp. Then I bust out a funnel and pour the sweet and sour smelling vinegar into a dollar store spray bottle.
At this point it's ready to go. I use this on everything other than wood and electronics. I use this in the kitchen, bathroom, baseboards, etc. I said it was easy, didn't I? The lemon and lime smell is my favorite. The L&L mixture seems to have some preservative properties to it. I've tried orange peels, but I didn't like the smell after a week or so.
There you have it. So incredibly easy and way cheaper than store bought. You don't have to buy a specific cleaner for your coffee pot because this is an all-purpose deal. Plus the bonus is that you can totally miss out on those chemically laced cleaners sold in stores. It's a win-win project.
