About three weeks ago I began helping with the social media aspects of NICU Helping Hands. I love this organization for many reasons. I've talked about them several times here. The need for social media help was urgent after a local WFAA story about our Angel Gowns program went viral. Close to 10 million hits the day after the story aired.
A small group of us hustled all weekend without sleep to answer questions, get the infrastructure up and going and keep the story alive. It was amazing, invigorating and it continues to be. The stories and connections that I have witnessed over the past few weeks have been humbling.
Things have calmed down and my position will be a part-time gig for right now. It's perfect really. Right now were going through thousands of wedding gowns, getting them ready to be sent to seamstresses so that they can sew them into angel gowns.
While the Final Four was in town we went to the stadium and hung out during the practices. This part was free and because the accessible seating was set up differently than a football game; we were allowed on the floor to watch. It took a long time to get there, but it was a fun break from the normal.
This past Thursday was the annual NICU Helping Hands Burgers 4 Babies event. The night was beautiful and the company was great. Eric and I had a wonderful evening out while Caleigh spent the night with her Mimi and Pop.
We've been dealing with allergies on a severe level for for the past week. Nothing is cutting it. So we've been laying low and hiding out in the house.
Before all our allergies set in last week we were able to take our first dip in the pool. It was only once, but we enjoyed the summer themed break from the winter dullness. We can't wait for the weather to figure out what the heck it is doing so that we can jump in again.
Renn is growing and growing. He's a crazy puppy that gets into everything right now. Probably more so since we've been sick and not able to walk him as much lately. We will be starting training with him this coming week. So far he knows how to sit, lay down and partially stay. He's a wiggly puppy and staying is tough work.
Hoping we can tolerate more outdoor adventures amidst the pollen vortex for the second half of April. More updates soon....
